Kids Are Second or Maybe Third

October 3, 2017

Your marriage is far more important than your relationship with your kids.

Don’t put your marriage on hold while you are raising kids. You’ll end up with an empty nest and an empty marriage.

We are amazed at how many families today are “kid-centric”.  “Kid-centric” families are doomed to eventually fail.

The most important person in the army is the General.
The most important person in the company is the CEO.
The most important person in the classroom is the Teacher.
The most important person in the family are the Parents.

Here is a conversation that happened early and often with our four kids:

Dad: ‘Hey kids, who does daddy love the most?’
Kids: ‘God’
Dad: ‘Then who?’
Kids: ‘Mommy’
Dad: ‘Then who?’
Kids: ‘Us’ (yelling loudly!)

Then we would have a big group hug.

Kids are clearly second, maybe third, depending on your priorities.

G&C

#freebie – don’t let society guilt you into going to every game, performance, or function your kid is doing.
